Communications Manager

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a passion for communications and events. Join our dynamic archery events team as we continue to grow our presence locally, nationally, and internationally.
 
Oversee communications for the National Field Archery Association (NFAA) and the NFAA Foundation, including managing multi-channel communications for events like The Vegas Shoot.
 

  • Strategy Development: Develop and implement a social media and communication strategy aligned with the organization's goals.
  • Content Creation: Create engaging content for various social media platforms. Work with staff to develop ideas, build them out for the appropriate platform, and create content assignments for contractors, including timelines and deliverables.
  • Digital Presence: Manage content across websites, news pages, and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube), potential podcast, resource pages, and newsletters.
  • Media Relations: Establish and manage relationships with local and national news outlets, industry publications, and other organizations to maximize exposure for the NFAA and NFAA Foundation. Includes press releases, scheduling interviews and articles, providing content, and fostering relationships.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously and integrate efforts with other initiatives by working closely with staff.
  • Budget & Timeline: Work with staff to set budgets, timelines, and publishing calendars for all platforms. Assign tasks and follow up on projects for both full-time staff and contractors.
  • Team Oversight: Hire and manage contract employees involved in communications, including photographers, videographers, video production teams, writers, and content creators. This involves negotiating contracts, setting clear goals and deliverables, and overseeing their work to ensure it aligns with the organization's objectives. Monitor the performance of contractors, provide feedback, and ensure timelines and budgets are adhered to.
  • Consistency: Ensure all content and communications maintain a consistent tone, branding, and voice that accurately reflects the organization's identity and values. This includes reviewing and approving all external communications, from social media posts to press releases, to guarantee they align with the organization's mission and messaging strategy. Ensure that all communications serve as a positive representation of the company and resonate with its target audience and stakeholders.
  • Monitoring & Feedback: Monitor social media channels for industry trends, audience engagement, and feedback. Track customer feedback, customer tickets, and social media comments to identify areas of opportunity. Ensure state organizations, members, sponsors, vendors, and customers are informed and understand NFAA events, decisions, and rules.
  • Evaluation: Assist with evaluating communication strategies and tactics by creating a communications dashboard, tracking metrics, and soliciting feedback from staff, state organizations, sponsors, and customers. Analyze performance and adjust accordingly.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in communications, marketing, or a similar role.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to set clear goals and manage the completion of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proactive self-starter who can identify areas for improvement, prioritize tasks effectively, and work independently to achieve objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to convey ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Experience managing a detailed communication schedule and calendar.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing, social media management, and content creation.
  • Archery, shooting sports, and/or hunting knowledge is a plus.
