Job Description: Responsible for preparing and cooking food in the school cafeteria, general cleaning and sanitation of work area and equipment, maintenance of production records and recipes.
 

Criteria: 

A. Education Level: High school diploma and relevant food service management certification or coursework, ServSafe Certified, or will be able to complete certification training upon hiring.

B. Experience Desired: 3 � 5 years in quantity food preparation

C. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Constant standing, hearing, hand-eye- and mind-eye coordination; frequent repetitive motions with wrists, hands and fingers, bending over, stooping, holding and crouching.

                      D. Other Requirements: Successful completion of Certification School sponsored by Child and Adult Nutrition Service. Working knowledge of computers and Office applications.
 

Essential Functions and Duties:

  1. Prepare, plan, and cook meals with guidance from Kitchen Manager and Child Nutrition Supervisor.
  2. Keeps production records for preparation and serving of all food used.
  3. Assists with serving of food during meal times in designated areas, if needed.
  4. Maintains receipts with proper adjustment for varying quantities.
  5. Oversees storage of leftover food according to proper storage and safety procedures.
  6. Evaluates menu items for product standards.
  7. Familiar with safety procedures in the use of all equipment.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Reports To: Child Nutrition Supervisor

 

Working Conditions: 

A. Inside

B. Climatic Environment: Occasionally subjected to cold temperatures below 32 degrees when removing or storing food in freezer. Often subjected to atmospheric conditions of odors and airborne particles. Continuously wears special clothing in accordance with prescribed dress code and sanitary guidelines.

C. Hazards: Occasionally subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical hazards and extreme heat. Caution also required to avoid potential burns.
