About Us
Onward Yankton began in 2014 as a grassroots campaign designed to find Yankton's Next Big Idea.
Today, the organization's vision is to help the community of Yankton achieve its full potential. Our mission is to advance the public interest in community preservation and improvement by encouraging the development of entrepreneurial thinking and activity.
Onward Yankton is recognized as a 501(c)3 nonprofit, a move that will benefit the organization as it launches its $2 million capital campaign.
The organization focuses on three missions: Promoting and fostering entrepreneurship, creating strong partnerships with local education entities and developing a thriving creative downtown district. In order to achieve the goals that have been planned for the next seven years, Onward will be seeking private donations, as well as actively pursuing state and federal grants, which range in value from $5,000 to $500,000.
Onward Yankton’s leadership team is composed of nine community leaders who govern three core committees – Education, Entrepreneurship and the Downtown Creative District. These committees are designed to work cohesively to create the Missouri River Capital of Entrepreneurship.
The Onward Yankton Board of Directors consists of the following individuals:
