Staff Accountant

Provides assistance to the Accounting function of the Bank by applying generally accepted accounting principles while preparing general ledger entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, analyzing financial information and creating reports. Position will be involved in numerous Accounting processes including, but not limited to, Funds Management, General Ledger and Interface Balancing, Accounts Payable, Regulatory reporting, Credit Card Journal Entries, Purchasing, and Monthly, Quarterly and Annual responsibilities. Position will take ownership of some of the previously listed duties and will serve as a backup to numerous daily critical functions.
 
This is a part-time position working 30+ hours/week. Hours include Monday-Friday 8:00-3:00 and may occasionally require additional hours or overtime to ensure reports and projects are completed by deadlines, as well as accommodating coverages for team. The position is located in Yankton.
 
Duties
  • Perform Accounting processes including, but not limited to, the following: Funds Management, General Ledger and Interface Balancing, Regulatory Reporting, Credit Card Journal Entries, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, and Monthly, Quarterly and Annual responsibilities.
  • Perform funds management functions including reconciling correspondent bank accounts, making appropriate entries for transactions and communicating pertinent information to fellow employees and/or third-party relationships
  • Reconciles general ledger accounts with various registers
  • Reviews Loan Closing Payables including working with lenders/assistants for crossing entries
  • Submits Deposit 360 & CorePoint Data Reports
  • Prepares and enters DMAC & Cost Accounting entries
  • Reconciles Miscellaneous Liabilities & Assets, and Real Estate fees
  • Submits State dormant accounts, State Sales & Use tax, Federal Interest & IRA Withholdings, and FR2900
  • Updates user content for Accounts Payable software & assists others with invoice submission questions
  • Verifies workflows are completed timely
  • Reviews, investigates, interprets computer reports, and makes corrections for inconsistencies in financial entries and/or reports
  • Work with purchasing software and reconciliations
  • Able to work with Microsoft Excel formulas and Microsoft Word documents
  • Collects appropriate data and prepares federal, state, and local regulatory reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports)
  • Maintains updated policy and procedure manuals, assists with providing appropriate information and answering questions to auditors/examiners
  • Backup for Accounting daily critical functions and serves as secondary review for numerous general ledger accounts
  • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures
  • Assists with various parameter changes/approvals to achieve dual control
  • Work on several projects/functions at one time
  • Maintain strict confidentiality, attention to detail, and comply with all Bank policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications

Communicate effectively with various types of clientele, co-workers and departments to resolve an assortment of needs. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well in a team environment. Punctuality is a must.

Education/Experience
  • 2 – 4 year Accounting degree; or
  • Minimum of 12 months of Accounting experience utilizing generally accepted accounting principles
Work Environment 
Office: The work environment of this job includes interacting with others in an office setting, and the noise level is usually moderate.
 
Physical Demands
Light: The physical demands of this job include bending, sitting, and occasionally lifting up to 10 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
