Description
The October “Wealth of Wellness” program will focus on “Breast Cancer and You: What Does Breast Density Tell Us About Risk and How Can Genetic Testing Guide Treatment?” The session will be presented by Dr. Mary Lee Villanueva and Dr. Timothy Mikesell from 12:15-12:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, in the Avera Sacred Heart Professional Office Pavilion Amphitheatre. Learn about some of the latest findings in breast cancer research. Approximately half of women over the age of 40 in the U.S. have dense breast tissue, which can be a cancer risk factor, and make cancers more difficult to detect on a mammogram. You’ll learn the significance of dense breast tissue and how genetic testing can help guide treatment after a breast cancer diagnosis. Refreshments will be available. Feel free to bring a lunch.
